Capitol Hill Row House, Washington, DC

DC, Steven Lawlor architect, lawlor architects, wooly mamouth architecture

Built as a single family house in the 1870's, this structure had been turned in to apartments since the 1950's and was old and tired. The clients wanted to reclaim this house as a single family house again while making it comfortable and functional for an up-to-date family of four and housing a full time home office in the carriage house. The house was completely reorganized and done in a way that juxtaposed modern and period details creating an energetic tension between new and old.
