Garden District

Located in the middle of one of Washington’s established garden districts, this project sought to bring life to a dark and forlorn house by incorporating light and views from the terrace into the interior. The first and second floors were largely reconfigured to achieve this goal. On the first floor, the rear masonry wall was removed and replaced by a glass wall to frame the views of the garden. This new great room combines a kitchen, breakfast space and family room with a limestone fireplace. A new master bedroom suite on the second floor provides generous dressing, storage, bathing and sleeping space as well as capture views to the landscape below.
